Can a car shade have solar panels?
Yes. Tarpo can add a solar charging system to a car shade: solar panels on a rigid frame above the roof, an inverter, optional batteries and a charging point for electric cars, e-bikes or the building. The shade still protects your cars while the roof generates power. How much power depends on the roof area, orientation and the system you choose.

Which designs suit solar?
Rigid, gently sloping roofs suit panels best. We usually recommend solar on suspended cantilever, arched truss, back-supported or polycarbonate designs. Our team checks orientation and shading from trees and buildings at the survey.

Solar car shade questions
Can I charge an electric car from a solar car shade?
Yes. We fit a weatherproof charging point. On cloudy days or at night, power can come from batteries or your normal supply, depending on the system.
Can solar be added to an existing car shade?
Sometimes. The frame and foundations must be able to carry the panels. Our team checks this at a survey and recommends any changes.
Does the shade still work without panels on every bay?
Yes. Panels can cover some or all of the roof; the shade cover protects the cars either way.
How much power will it produce?
It depends on the panel area, orientation and local sun. Our team sizes the system at the survey and explains the expected output in your quote.
