Arched truss cantilever car shades
Curved steel trusses on strong single posts carry a wide, arched roof over your cars, with no posts at the front.
What is an arched truss cantilever car shade?
An arched truss cantilever car shade uses a curved steel truss on each post to carry the roof forward over the cars. The truss makes long, stiff arms possible, so posts can stand further apart and the roof keeps a smooth arched profile. It suits offices, showrooms and homes that want a modern look with clear bays.
Best for
- Offices, showrooms and hotels that want a modern, engineered look
- Wide parking rows where fewer posts make parking easier
- Homes with a long driveway along a boundary
At a glance
- Posts at the back only, on bolted base plates
- Curved trusses give long, stiff arms
- Posts typically spaced about 4 m apart
- Waterproof shade net is the most popular cover
How it is built
Every truss is welded in our workshop to the curve on our drawings, then lifted onto the posts on site.
- Heavy-duty steel posts on bolted base plates and concrete foundations
- A curved top chord, straight tie and struts welded into a rigid truss
- A steel hanger from each post top to the tip of the truss, above the cover
- Curved rafters between the posts and purlins across the roof to carry the cover
- Your cover stretched over the arch, finished with an edge flap at the front

Covers and colours
The arched roof sheds water well, so waterproof covers are a natural fit.
- Waterproof shade net, our most popular choice for this design
- 80% shade net for sun-only shade
- PVC for full rain protection and branding
- Acrylic canvas for a premium finish

Arched truss cantilever questions
How far apart are the posts on an arched truss car shade?
Posts are usually about 4 metres apart, so a three-car run needs three posts. The exact spacing is set at the site survey to suit your bays and ground.
Is the arched truss stronger than a simple cantilever arm?
The truss shape makes the arm much stiffer for its weight, which is why it can reach further and carry a wider roof. Our team sizes the posts and foundations for your site.
Can water collect on an arched roof?
No. The roof curves up from the posts and down to the front edge, so rain runs off. A gutter can be added if you want to collect it.
Which colours are available?
Shade net and waterproof net come in green, beige, charcoal, blue and brick red. PVC and acrylic come in a wider range. Our team brings samples to the survey.
